The breakdown included solar power at 164.59 GW, wind at 58.14 GW, large and small hydropower at 57.24 GW, bio-power at 11.75 GW and nuclear power at 8.78 GW.

Non-fossil capacity accounted for more than 54% of India's total electricity-generation capacity, which was reported at around 552 GW. The milestone represents more than 60% of the national target of 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030. Northeast & Urban Development - PMAY-U 2.0 Housing Milestone

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY-U 2.0 crossed a milestone of more than 1.25 crore houses sanctioned, of which over 1 crore houses were completed and delivered to beneficiaries. The latest Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee meeting approved more than 2.09 lakh houses under PMAY-U 2.0 for economically weaker section families across several States and Union Territories, including Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.

Under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) vertical, eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of up to ₹2.5 lakh to construct pucca houses on their own land. Infrastructure Governance - PAIMANA and Data-Driven Monitoring

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation developed PAIMANA, or Project Assessment, Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-Building, as a web-based platform for monitoring Central Sector infrastructure projects costing ₹150 crore or more. PAIMANA replaced the earlier OCMS-2006 system.

The PAIMANA-CRIP module, launched on 8 July 2026, replaces the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade's Integrated Project Monitoring Portal and is intended to evolve into a Central Repository of Infrastructure Projects. The platform receives updates from more than 20 Ministries, Departments and implementing agencies, including through APIs. Its Performance Monitoring Dashboard covers six infrastructure sub-sectors: power, civil aviation, telecommunications, railways, roads, and ports, shipping and waterways.

International Relations & Economy - BRICS Competition Authorities Meeting

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) hosted the Meeting of Heads of BRICS Competition Authorities in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on 8 August 2026 under India's BRICS Chairship. The meeting addressed cooperation on competition law and policy, including the changing nature of digital markets, emerging technologies and renewable-energy markets.

The participating authorities adopted a Joint Statement titled Strengthening Cooperation to Promote Fair Competition, including in Renewable Energy Markets.
