Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a regular full-time Degree in Engineering with 65% marks, calculated as the average of all semesters, in one of the following disciplines:

• Chemical Engineering / Technology or Electro Chemical Engineering.
• Civil Engineering.
• Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science & Information Technology, or 3 years MCA.
• Electrical Engineering and related electrical/power/electronics-power disciplines listed in the official advertisement.
• Instrumentation, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechatronics, Automation/Robotics and related instrumentation disciplines listed in the official advertisement.
• Mechanical Engineering and related production, industrial, thermal, manufacturing, mechatronics and automation disciplines listed in the official advertisement.
• Metallurgical Engineering, Material Sciences & Engineering / Technology, or Industrial Metallurgy.

SC/ST/PwBD/Departmental candidates with the required Engineering Degree are eligible with 55% marks. The qualification must be from a university/institution recognized or accredited by UGC, AICTE or equivalent statutory bodies.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 28 years as on 05 December 2025.
• Candidate should not be born earlier than 05 December 1997.
• Age relaxation: SC/ST - 5 years; OBC(NCL) - 3 years.
• PwBD relaxation: 10 years for General, 15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC(NCL).
• Departmental candidates: upper age limit 45 years irrespective of caste/category.

Application Fee

• General/OBC(NCL)/EWS: Rs. 1050 including processing fee.
• SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Departmental candidates: Rs. 300 processing fee.

Salary and Training

• Management Trainees (Technical) will be placed on training for one year.
• During training: Basic Pay Rs. 50,000 per month in the pay scale Rs. 50,000-1,60,000.
• After successful completion of training, candidates will be designated as Assistant Manager in E1 grade in the scale Rs. 60,000-1,80,000.
• Approximate CTC is Rs. 16-17 lakh per annum at minimum E1 grade, excluding PRP, location-based allowances and other applicable benefits.
• Benefits include DA, cafeteria perquisites, PF, gratuity, leave encashment, Housing/HRA and medical benefits as per company rules.

Selection Process

The selection process includes:

1. Online Examination - Computer Based Test (CBT).
2. Group Discussion (GD).
3. Interview.
4. Document and biometric verification.
5. Medical examination as per SAIL standards.

The CBT will be of 200 marks:

• Domain Knowledge Test: 100 marks, 40 minutes.
• Aptitude Test: 100 marks, 80 minutes.
• Aptitude segments: Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning and General Awareness of 25 marks each.

Candidates qualifying the CBT will be shortlisted for GD and Interview in the ratio of 1:3 for each discipline and category. Final selection weightage will be CBT:GD:Interview = 75:10:15.

The CBT is tentatively scheduled in January 2026 / February 2026 at centres including Bengaluru, Bhilai Nagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi/Delhi NCR, Durgapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Ernakulam, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mohali, Mumbai/MMR, Nagpur, Patna, Prayagraj, Ranchi, Rourkela, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Vijayawada/Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Vadodara.

Medical Standards

Candidates should be of sound physique and free from physical defects. The minimum medical standards mentioned in the advertisement include weight 45 kg, height 155 cm, myopia/hypermetropia not exceeding +/- 4.00 in each eye, and no squint or colour blindness. Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be given to female candidates. For PwBD, only OA/OL/OAL candidates with minimum 40% disability and dwarfism (DW) are eligible as per the notification.
