Overview

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam has invited online applications from eligible candidates who are permanent residents of Assam for admission into the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the academic session 2026-2028.

Admission will be through the Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026. The course will be conducted in NCTE-recognised Teacher Education Institutes of Assam, including DIET, CTE, Normal School, BITE, BTC and private TEIs.

Candidates should apply only through the official admission portal and should check the official notification, schedule and user manual before submitting the form.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the following official eligibility conditions:

  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • The candidate must meet the educational qualification prescribed for D.El.Ed. admission.
  • The candidate must satisfy the age limit as on 1 July 2026.
  • Candidates must provide correct information in the online application. If any information is found false or incorrect, or if the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the candidature may be cancelled at any stage.

Educational Qualification

The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] from a recognised Board or Council with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

The official notification specifies that optional, extra or fourth-subject marks are to be excluded while calculating the aggregate percentage.

For SC, ST(P) and ST(H) candidates, there is a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate. This means eligible candidates from these categories need at least 45% marks in aggregate, excluding optional, extra or fourth subject.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 600 for all categories.

The fee must be paid online through Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or other available online payment options on the admission portal.

Reservation Details

The official notification states that reservation of seats for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PWD and EWS candidates will be followed as per the applicable Reservation Policy.

The reviewed official notification does not provide category-wise seat percentages in the admission notice. Candidates should refer to official SCERT Assam updates for institute-wise and category-wise seat details, if released separately.

Selection Process

The admission process is based on the official SCERT PET admission flow:

  1. Online application submission.
  2. Downloading of PET admit card.
  3. Appearance in the Pre-Entry Test.
  4. Declaration of PET result.
  5. Mandatory online counselling.
  6. Institute allotment and cut-off publication.
  7. Physical admission, document verification and payment of admission fees at the allotted institute.

Participation in online counselling is mandatory for candidates seeking admission after the PET result.

SCERT PET Details

The Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 is scheduled for 12 July 2026.

The PET venue will be allocated in the district selected by the candidate during online application. The allotted venue will be mentioned in the admit card. The official notification also states that seats will be allotted to selected candidates in Teacher Education Institutes of the district chosen for appearing in PET.

Admit cards will be available for download from the official admission portal from 5 July 2026 onwards.

The reviewed official notification, schedule and user manual do not provide a detailed PET syllabus or question pattern. Candidates should follow further updates from the official admission portal and SCERT Assam.

Candidates should also keep their personal details, communication address, HS board details, medium, stream, year of passing, total marks and obtained marks ready before filling the form.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official admission portal: scertpet.co.in.
  2. Open the New Registration page.
  3. Fill in the registration form and click Save & Proceed.
  4. Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number and verify it.
  5. Go to the login page and login using the registered phone number and date of birth.
  6. Click Proceed to Complete Application Form.
  7. Fill in the application form carefully and submit the details.
  8. Upload the required documents one by one in the specified format and size.
  9. Preview the form and verify all details.
  10. Confirm the application and proceed to fee payment.
  11. Pay the application fee online.
  12. Download or save the acknowledgement slip after successful payment.

No mode of application other than online submission through the official portal will be entertained.
